Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to open higher; Bank stocks in focus

Domestic bourses are expected to start the day in green on Friday on the back of favourable global cues. Stock-specific news flow, movement in the dollar index, and the Covid-19 would be the other factors guiding the market trajectory.
Banks will be a key focus in today's session after the central government extended the suspension on initiating insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings against firms for three more months till December 24.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10A of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, the Central Government has extended the suspension of sections 7,9, 10 of the IBC for a further period of three months," the government notification read.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 36553.6 down by -1114.82 points or by -2.96 % and then NSE Nifty was at 10805.55 down by -326.3 points.
