Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to open in red today

Domestic bourses are expected to open lower on Wednesday following weak global cues. A major fall in US markets overnight, concerns over India-China tensions, and an unwelcome news on the Covid front might keep investor sentiment in check today.
On the Covid front, pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca said it has "voluntarily paused" a randomized clinical trial of its coronavirus vaccine in what it called a routine action after a volunteer developed an unexplained illness.
On the result front, a total of 45 companies, including Indiabulls Ventures, and Eveready Industries are scheduled to announce their June quarter earnings today.
On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 38365.35 down by -51.88 points or by -0.14 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11317.35 down by -37.7 points.
