Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to open in red on Thursday

Indian benchmark indices are expected to start the day in red on Thursday as investors will react to coronavirus-related updates, global cues, macro data, and corporate earnings on Thursday.
According to Worldometer tally, India had over 12,000 cases and 400 deaths. The government yesterday allowed opening up of some industries in rural areas after April 20 to reduce the distress caused to millions of people because of the lockdown.
Further, India’s quarterly corporate earnings season kicked off yesterday with Wipro which posted muted growth in its revenue and profit numbers for the fourth quarter of the last financial year.
Today, another tech giant Tata Consultancy Services is scheduled to release its March quarter numbers and analysts see some erosion in the company's revenue due to the nationwide lockdown while the Covid-19 outbreak is expected to impact most of the company's verticals.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 30379.81 down by -310.21 points or by -1.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 8925.3 down by -68.55 points.
